Moteloy is a small lodge, in the middle of the deepest Amazon rainforest in Peru. It comprises approximately 33 hectares of original rainforest. The small town with about 6000 inhabitants is located in the Amazon basin, 50 km upstream from Iquitos. There are no roads leading to this area, only waterways connect the settlements. There is a national airport in Iquitos, wirer you normally arrive.
Approximately 100 km upstream from Tamhshiyacu, is Nauta, is the origin of the Amazon – where Rio Maranon and Rio Ucayali form the great Amazon River. He will gain much strength until he then flows into the sea in Brazil. Tamushiyacu is the capital of the district of Maynas with 6000 inhabitants.
Every day it grows by immigrant families who mostly seek work and school education. There are elementary and secondary schools, a simple hospital, many bars and small shops. The market is also here.
The camp buys fresh produce if no fishing is done. From Tamshiyacu it is 6 km to the village. There are mototaxis on simple, unpaved clay roads.
